Despite earning a reputation as one of the best players in Ghana's domestic league, Daniel Quaye was a surprise name in Ratomir Dujkovic's World Cup squad. He did not feature in the second half of the qualifying campaign for Germany 2006 and was omitted from the Black Stars squad for the African Cup of Nations at the start of the year. However, he is one of a number of players to have benefited from Ghana's poor showing in Egypt, as Dujkovic opted to make wholesale changes to his side after they failed to progress from the group stage. The 25-year-old has spent the last seven years playing for Hearts of Oak, picking up six Ghanaian league and an African Champions League winner's medals.
