Emmanuel Pappoe was a key figure during the qualifying campaign for the World Cup, with his aggressive play a major reason for Ghana's outstanding defensive record. However, like many of his team-mates, the 25-year-old heads to Germany with plenty to prove after disappointing during the Black Stars' dismal African Cup of Nations campaign earlier in the year. Pappoe, who captained his country to second place at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship and also appeared at the 2004 Olympics, currently plays his club football for Hapoel Kfar Saba in Israel, but will be hoping to use the finals to secure a move to one of Europe's top leagues.
