George Owu will travel to Germany 2006 as deputy to the Black Stars' outstanding goalkeeper Sammy Adjei. The 23-year-old made his name playing for Ghana's age-group teams and was part of the squad that finished as runners-up to hosts Argentina at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. He also represented his country at the Athens Olympics, starting all three matches as Ghana failed to progress from a group that contained beaten finalists Paraguay, bronze medallists Italy and Japan. Owu currently plays his club football for AshantiGold in Ghana's domestic league.
