Rated by many as the best goalkeeper in Africa, Sammy Adjei conceded just three goals in 10 games during the qualifying tournament for Germany 2006. The 25-year-old has an unorthodox approach, but is renowned for his spectacular reflex saves. He demonstrated why in this year's African Cup of Nations and was one of the few players to emerge from the Black Stars' disappointing campaign with an enhanced reputation. Adjei made his name in his homeland with Hearts of Oak, before spending the 2004-05 season on loan in Tunisia with Club Africain. He then made a permanent switch to Israeli outfit Moadon Sports Ashdod in September 2005.
