Edwin van der Sar has ignored his advancing years to finally solve Manchester United's post-Schmeichel goalkeeping problems. The agile veteran moved to Old Trafford from Fulham last summer and helped the Red Devils lift the League Cup, to add to the 1995 Champions League, four Eredivisie titles and three Dutch Cups he won during his time with Ajax. Van der Sar, who spent two years with Juventus after leaving Ajax in 1999, has been the Netherlands' first choice goalkeeper since making his debut in 1995. He helped the Oranje to reach the semi-finals of France 98, Euro 2000 and Euro 2004 and won his 100th cap in the 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory against Romania in June 2005.
