A shock name in Marco van Basten's World Cup squad, Jaliens only made his international debut in the 1-0 friendly victory against Ecuador in March 2006. The 27-year-old defender started his career with Sparta Rotterdam before joining Willem II in 1999. He moved on again to AZ Alkmaar in 2004 and was part of the side that reached the semi-final of the 2004-05 UEFA Cup. He netted in the second leg of the last four clash against Sporting Lisbon, but his goal was not enough to prevent the Portuguese side progressing to the final on away goals.
