An uncompromising defender, Boulahrouz has become a fixture in the Netherlands team since Marco van Basten took charge after Euro 2004. He began his career with RKC Waalwijk and his consistent displays were rewarded by a move to German club Hamburg in August 2004. An international debut followed weeks later in a 3-0 friendly victory against Liechtenstein and Boulahrouz has retained his place in the squad ever since. The 24-year-old, a firm favourite with fans at the AOL-Arena, will head to the finals in excellent form after playing an important role in Hamburg's challenge for the Bundesliga title.
