He may no longer be guaranteed a place in Manchester United's starting line-up, but van Nistelrooy remains one of the deadliest penalty-box predators in world football. The striker has netted over 150 goals for Manchester United since his 30 million euros move from PSV Eindhoven in 2001 and it is that form that has ensured he is still an automatic choice for Netherlands coach Marco van Basten. Van Nistelrooy made his debut for the Oranje in the 1-1 draw against Germany in November 1998 and has since averaged better than a goal every two games in international football. In his only previous major tournament, he scored four times on route to the semi-finals of Euro 2004 and will need to repeat that form if the Netherlands are to make similar progress in Germany.
