Versatile defender Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh was a surprise name in Branko Ivankovic's squad for Germany 2006. The 33-year-old, who can operate at left-back or in the centre of defence, has been in and out of the national side since his debut in 1997 and did not feature in the World Cup qualifiers. However, he impressed Ivankovic with an excellent run of form for Saba Battery and will be hoping to partner his club team-mate Yahya Golmohammadi at the heart of Iran's defence in Germany.
