Hashemian netted crucial goals against Qatar and Japan to help his country reach their third finals and, after a troubled international career, he finally seems to have found his feet under coach Branko Ivankovic. Previously the 29-year-old had refused to play for the national side citing a lack of time on the pitch after travelling from Germany where he plays his club football for Hannover.
