Heir apparent to the legendary Ali Daei who scored vital goals in Iran's qualification campaign for the World Cup finals in Germany. Hashemian netted crucial goals against Qatar and Japan to help his country reach their third finals and, after a troubled international career, he finally seems to have found his feet under coach Branko Ivankovic. Previously the 29-year-old had refused to play for the national side citing a lack of time on the pitch after travelling from Germany where he plays his club football for Hannover. Nicknamed 'The Helicopter' due to his immense aerial threat, the well-travelled striker will be hoping to put his international troubles behind him once and for all in Germany.
