A target man rather than a prolific goalscorer, Vincenzo Iaquinta will provide Marcello Lippi with a very different option as he looks to find a settled strike pairing in Germany. Iaquinta had spells with lower league sides Padova and Castel di Sangro before joining Udinese in 2000. He has been a regular for the Bianconeri ever since and enjoyed his most successful season in 2004-05 when he scored 13 times in 31 games to help the club qualify for the Champions League. That earned him a senior international debut in the goalless draw against Iceland in March 2005 and he has remained in the squad ever since, despite a persistent foot injury and a contract dispute hindering his progress at club level.
