A pacy striker, Arouna Kone will be hoping to get the nod to partner Didier Drogba for the Elephants in Germany. Aruna Dindane played alongside the skipper during World Cup qualifying but was not available for the 2006 African Cup of Nations. Kone grasped his chance to impress in Egypt and his direct play when he has possession and ability to disrupt defences with clever running off the ball were key factors in the Ivory Coast reaching the final. The 22-year-old had spells with Rio Sports d'Anyama and Lierse before making his name with Roda JC in the Netherlands. Kone's displays earned him a move to PSV Eindhoven in summer 2005 and he contributed 11 goals as the club retained the Eredivisie title.
