A relative veteran at the age of 31, Garcia won the nod due to his adaptability in being able to feature in either defence or midfield. He has won more than 50 caps for Mexico, having made his international debut a decade ago against Chile and was a member of the squad at the last World Cup finals four years ago. An unspectacular performer, Garcia is likely to act as more of a squad player in Germany, but the Atlas schemer will not let coach Ricardo La Volpe down when required.
