The 35-year-old Paraguay captain is a veteran of more than 100 appearances for his country. He made his international debut against Bolivia more than 13 years ago and is now the most capped player in Paraguay's history. Gamarra began his club career with Cerro Porteno in his homeland and has also played for Independiente in Argentina, Brazilian sides Internacional and Corinthians, Benfica in Portugal, Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid, AEK Athens in Greece and Serie A giants Internazionale. He has starred for his country in the last two World Cups and won Paraguay's Footballer of the Year award in 1997. He spent the last season with Brazilian side Palmeiras.
