The 31-year-old has made more than 70 appearances for his country and is a stalwart of Paraguay's World Cup campaign of four years ago under the stewardship of Cesare Maldini. He is a versatile defender who can play anywhere in the back four and is currently starring for Mexican side Cruz Azul. Earlier in his career he played for Olimpia in his homeland before moving to Argentinian side Lanus and then Santos of Mexico, before joining Cruz Azul in 2005.
