The experienced midfielder is one of the most capped players in Paraguay's history and is approaching his 100th appearance for his country. The 34-year-old was actually born in Argentina but moved to Paraguay as a youngster and decided to take out Paraguayan citizenship in 1993 so he could play for the country. His club career began at Club Nacional but, after spells in Argentina with Independiente and Boca Juniors, he moved to Spanish side Real Zaragoza in 1997. Four years ago he was transferred to Deportivo La Coruna in a £6.7million deal after starring for his country in Japan and South Korea. He was also a member of the Paraguay side at the 1998 World Cup.
