Another surprise pick by coach Pawel Janas, Jelen was selected after some solid displays for Wisla Plock. He made his international bow back in December 2003 against Malta, but has won only a handful of caps since then and didn't feature in the qualifying campaign. The 25-year-old is likely to be a back-up in Germany, but will be eager to impress after being selected ahead of the out-of-form Tomasz Frankowski.
