Joaquim Manuel Sampaio Silva, also known as Quim, was an integral part of the Benfica side that defied the odds to reach the latter stages of this season's Champions League - knocking out Manchester United and Liverpool in the process. On the international stage things haven't gone so well for the 30-year-old, who made his debut for Portugal in 1999. He was the third choice in Euro 2000 and, although looked set to take the number one jersey for the World Cup in Japan and Korea, he was replaced late on by Ricardo. An agile keeper who is regarded as an excellent shot stopper.
