Mercurial talent who struggled to make the grade in England with Newcastle and has since moved on to Valencia. Former Magpies boss Bobby Robson liked what he saw in the young winger during his time as a manager in Portugal and splashed out £8.5million to secure his services in 2002. Viana was a non-playing member of the squad during the 2002 World Cup and only returned to the international set up after Euro 2004 - following his subsequent move away from the doldrums of English football. Regarded as a set-piece specialist but likely to start on the bench such is his unpredictable nature.
