Saudi Arabia number one who made the jersey his own after dislodging veteran Mohammed Al Daeyea at the beginning of the qualification campaign for the 2006 World Cup. Zaid, 34, has been on the international stage for a number of years but it is only in the last 24 months that he has been given the opportunity to display his full repertoire of skills. At club level he is one of the most important players in the Al Ittihad line-up and was short-listed for the 2005 Asian Player of the Year award after helping his side win the year's Asian Champions League final. A tall and commanding goalkeeper, Zaid conceded only 12 goals as the Falcons qualified for their fourth successive World Cup finals.
