Hard-working midfielder who is one of the most important yet least heralded members of the national side. Like all defensive midfielders, Kariri patrols the area in front of his back four and breaks up opposition attacks with vigour before passing the ball to a more attack-minded team-mate. Despite scoring one goal in the qualification campaign he is unlikely to venture too far forward in Germany but coach Marcos Paqueta won't mind as long as he offers protection at the back. Has been a key member of the all-conquering Al Ittihad side that has won two Asian Champions League titles in recent years.
