One of the stars of Serie A, creative midfielder Dejan Stankovic will be a key player for Serbia & Montenegro at Germany 2006. He made his name as a flying winger for Crvena Zvezda, where he won a league title and three domestic cup winners' medals before joining Lazio in a £7.5million transfer in 1998. He developed into a central midfielder while in Rome and helped Lazio win the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1999 and the domestic double the following year. A move to Internazionale followed in 2004 and he has since helped the Nerazzurri win the Coppa Italia twice. He made his international debut in 1998 and has since won over 50 caps, including appearances at France 98 and Euro 2000.
