Serbia & Montenegro coach Ilija Petkovic views attacking midfielder Zvonimir Vukic as one of his most important players and named him in the squad for Germany 2006 even though he is less than 100 per cent fit. The 26-year-old suffered a broken heel in February and only returned to action in May but, after he scored four times in the qualifying campaign, Petkovic felt he could not leave him out of the squad. Vukic enjoyed successful spells with Partizan Belgrade and Shakhtar Donetsk before joining Portsmouth in 2005. He failed to make an impact in the Premiership and returned to Partizan in January 2006.
