The 24-year-old FC Seoul defender has emerged as an integral part of South Korea's back four with a string of accomplished performances. He was part of his country's squad at the Athens Olympics two years ago and faces competition for a starting place in Germany from Lee Eul-Young who has been recalled by coach Dick Advocaat recently. Kim is keen to support his strikers whenever possible and is ideally suited to one of the wing-back roles.
