The Seongnam Ilhwa defender is a latecomer to the international scene having only broken into his country's side last year at the age of 29. He was picked by former coach Jo Bonfrere for the World Cup qualifiers and the East Asian Championship and impressed with his wholehearted displays. He scored his first international goal in November's 2-2 draw with Sweden, but is likely to be used from the substitute's bench by Dick Advocaat.
