Hakan Yakin earned a late call-up for the World Cup finals after youngster Johan Vonlanthen was forced to pull out of the squad due to a hamstring injury. The vastly experienced schemer had originally been left out of the 23-man party by coach Kobi Kuhn due to fitness concerns of his own. Has enjoyed a long and varied career, having played in France, Germany and Turkey, but he is currently back in Switzerland with Young Boys. Has made more than 40 appearances for Switzerland and often featured alongside his brother, Murat. Played in all three games for Switzerland at Euro 2004.
