Johann Vogel is one of only two members of the Switzerland squad who currently play in Serie A, having joined AC Milan from PSV Eindhoven last summer. The 29-year-old is his country's captain and also the most capped player in Switzerland's history. He began his professional career with Grasshoppers where he played mainly as a centre-back or at right-back. After being a regular in the Zurich-based side for five seasons, he moved to PSV in 1999 where he was converted to a defensive midfielder. Vogel helped the Dutch side reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2004-05 before sealing his transfer to Milan. He made his international debut 11 years ago and appeared at Euro 96 and Euro 2004, where he was sent off in the first group game against Croatia.
