The 24-year-old scored the vital goal in the play-off against Turkey that helped Switzerland reach this summer's tournament. The Cologne striker missed most of the qualifying campaign and Euro 2004 through injury. Indeed since moving to the Bundesliga two years ago he has endured a series of injures. He moved to Stuttgart from FC Basel after scoring 13 goals in just 16 games for the Swiss side in 2003-04. However, after netting only one goal for Stuttgart in the first half of the 2005-06 campaign he moved to Cologne in January 2006 but could not help the side avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.
