Wicky has been a regular in the Switzerland side for the last decade and appeared at Euro 96. He has made more than 50 appearances for his country and spent the last four years with Hamburg. The 29-year-old made his name at SC Sion where he won a league and cup double in 1997 before sealing a move to Werder Bremen that summer. The midfielder was awarded the Swiss Player of the Year award in 1998, and, after a brief spell in Spain with Atletico Madrid, he signed for Hamburg in 2002. Wicky, with Johann Vogel and Philippe Senderos, helps to give the Swiss side a strong spine.
