The 22-year-old Port Vale midfielder has been with the League One side since he was nine. He qualifies to play for the Soca Warriors because his mother was born in Port of Spain, and made his international debut against Peruvian side Alianza Lima. He starred in last year's Gold Cup campaign, scoring in the game against Honduras. Birchall became a Trinidad & Tobago hero when he netted the crucial equaliser in the first leg of their play-off win against Bahrain. If he stars in this summer's tournament he will become the first Vale player to appear in the World Cup finals.
