Versatile striker who regularly finishes runner-up to Andriy Shevchenko in the poll for Ukraine's player of the year. A product of the Shakhtar Donetsk youth system, Vorobey made his league debut in September 1997 and has gone on to make more than 200 appearances scoring 80 goals. Vorobey became a fans' favourite at Shakhtar after scoring the extra-time winner in the Ukrainian Cup final four years ago. On the international stage the lightning fast 27-year-old has made regular appearances during the qualification campaign and is viewed by coach Oleg Blokhin as a steady if not spectacular performer who has plenty of experience at the top level.
