Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine's number one goalkeeper. The 31-year-old was in impressive form during the qualification campaign and kept a number of clean sheets - including over 600 minutes without conceding a goal - to help Ukraine reach their first ever World Cup finals. An excellent organiser of his defence, Shovkovskiy made his debut at the age of 19 and, but for a serious shoulder injury during the 2001-02 season, has been a virtual ever-present for both club and country since. Recently named Ukrainian goalkeeper of the year for 2005 and has a wealth of both international and top-level European experience.
