Right winger Ben Olsen has recovered from serious knee and ankle injuries to re-establish himself as a regular in the national squad. He played for the USA in the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship and then made his senior international debut in a goalless draw against Australia in November 1998. However, his fitness problems meant he found it difficult to hold down a regular place in Bruce Arena's team and it took him seven years to reach the 30-cap mark. The 29-year-old has spent his professional career with DC United, picking up two MLS title winner's medals. The only other club side he has turned out for is Nottingham Forest, where he had a brief loan spell during the 2000-01 season.
