Los Angeles Galaxy full-back Chris Albright was not in Bruce Arena's original 23-man squad for Germany 2006, but was called up after Frankie Hejduk suffered a serious knee injury. The 27-year-old, who is equally happy on the left or right side of defence, began his club career with a three-year spell at DC United. He moved on to Los Angeles in 2002 and helped the Galaxy win the MLS title in his first season and again in 2005. Albright represented the USA at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championships and 2000 Olympics, but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the senior national team since his goalscoring debut against Jamaica in September 1999.
