A fast, physically imposing centre forward, Eddie Johnson has enjoyed a stunning introduction to international football. He scored 37 times in 51 appearances for the USA's youth teams to earn a call-up to the senior squad in October 2004. He marked his debut as a substitute against El Salvador with a goal and four days later came off the bench against Panama to score a hat-trick. The 22-year-old finished the qualifying campaign for Germany 2006 with seven goals from seven games. Johnson has been less prolific at club level and was allowed to move to Kansas City Wizards in 2006 after spending five years with FC Dallas.
