Landon Donovan is one of the best footballers ever to come out of the USA but heads to the World Cup finals with plenty to prove to the German public. The 24-year-old has already won more than 75 senior international caps and was one of the stars of the USA's run to the quarter-finals of Korea and Japan 2002, as well as picking up winner's medals at the 2002 and 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cups. However, his combination of pace, vision and deadly finishing failed to make an impact in the Bundesliga and he spent the majority of his five-year spell with Bayer Leverkusen on loan at San Jose Earthquakes. He joined Los Angeles Galaxy in 2005 and scored 12 times as they claimed the MLS title in his first season.
